Be sure to bring the little ones by in their costumes for treats, most will be homemade by our members so you know they are safe. Some , but not all of our members will be in costume as well. There will be snacks made of items  from our home grown produce as well for the adults to enjoy as well as the children. It should be a fun time for all. The fun begins at 10:00 am.

There is still some local produce to be had as well as apples and cider, eggs and cheeses, meats and condiments.

Our artists have been hard at work filling their stands with products for your purchasing pleasure. There is truly something for everyone here. Stop by and join in the fun and visit with your friends and neighbors at the River City Farmers market, 922 Front street , Marietta, Oh in the Rabbit and Poultry Barn at the Washington county fairgrounds. It’s Pumpkin carving time, and you can find lots of pumpkins at the River City Farmers Market right now, along with fall squash, for eating as well as decorating for the upcoming holidays. The time of year for roasting marshmallows and  hot dogs over an open fire and watching the autumn leaves drift to the ground.

Many of us are hunting up old recipes and new for our holiday baking and I found one for you to try:

Butternut Apple Crisp
Ingredients: 1 small butternut squash   3 tart apples   ¼ cup honey   2tbsp. Lemon juice
¾ cup brown sugar   1 tbsp cornstarch   1tsp cinnamon   ½ tsp salt   1.5oz box raisins    1tsp all spice

Oat topping:  ½ cup all purpose flour   ½ cup oats   ¼ cup brown sugar   6tbsp butter   ¼ cup chopped pecans(walnuts)   ¼ cup gran0la

Wash,  core, peel, dice or slice squash and apples together, add remaining ingredients and mix well. Transfer to 9 x 13 baking dish and baked covered 20 minutes at 375%.  Remove from oven, sprinkle with topping and place back in oven and bake uncovered an additional 25 minutes or till bubbly and slightly browned. Cool   Top with cool whip or ice cream and serve     Enjoy!!

You can find the squash, apples and possibly honey and nuts at the market.
