Nov 24th at The Market

Tomorrow is small Business Saturday, the day after Black Friday.

The River City Farmers Market consists of small business owners who are  members of your local community who come together every Saturday to offer their best for  your purchasing pleasure. Buying from them is helping your community to grow and prosper rather than some unknown in a foreign country.
This year why not put them first on your shopping list. There is much to be found there, something for everyone and for any and every occasion.

I do hope you will come by and see for yourself. You may even find your neighbor or best friend there.

Beginning the first Saturday in December we will once again be giving out free tickets to be drawn at our Annual Christmas at the Market event on the last Saturday before Christmas . Be sure you stop in and get yours for a chance to win a prize made by one or some of our members. It's a gala time and lots of fun.

Hope to see you all at the market tomorrow.

Breakfast is a big success

Friday, May 18, 2012

Big turnout for the customer appreciation breakfast last week. Lots of good food, great music by the Sunderman Family and drawings for flower baskets for Mother's Day. still many baskets to be picked up. I personally enjoyed visits from my 2 beautiful daughters and granddaughter, a big surprise for me, loved every minute of it.
Dog Show at the Fairgrounds this week end so if you are coming to the market please drive slowly and follow the signs. The usual entrance by the office will be blocked off so you must take the next right hand turn and loop around the tree, it's only a few more feet. Don't want to run over the puppies now do we?
Still have garden and bedding plants, herbs and flower baskets to decorate your surroundings. Strawberries, rhubarb and more and more fresh vegetables each week. Had my first ripe tomato today. Tumbling toms in a hanging basket. Juicy and sweet. Can't wait for the big sandwich tomatoes to ripen.
Weather forecast is for a beautiful Saturday so come on down to the Market and see what's new. Walk around, visit with your neighbors, maybe make some new friends and enjoy your outdoor shopping adventure.
Just saw a post from the Bread Garage, they will again not be at the market tomorrow. Promises to be back next week.

We continue trying to get the word out in one way or another. So if you know, tell all your friends and ask them to help spread the word by telling all their friends. We wish her a speedy recovery.
The bread man says he will be back today. Our famous pie lady should be there as well. Come on by and check out all the great plants all ready for your gardens and porches and flower beds. We have something for everyone.
Well gotta go for now and get ready for the market. Hope to see you all there.

Dessert and Cake Auction a Great Success

Thursday, April 12, 2012

Well, I want you all to know our first ever Dessert and Cake Auction for Easter was a great success. Will probably repeat this one for next year. Many cakes were purchased and then given to someone else as a gift. Very nice time was had by all.
The big doors have been unsealed and are ready to be opened this weekend. Vegetable Plants, herbs and flowers are in abundance. Most plant and produce members will be set up outside in the lot now, and for the rest of the growing season. Be sure to come by and secure your plants for the season. Some really nice large tomato plants in big pots are available, Tumbling Tom tomato baskets and 5 gallon pots, most with bloom and some with tiny tomatoes already. These will go quick. I don't know about you, but I for one cannot wait for that first ripe homegrown tomato from the garden. There is no better eating as far as I am concerned.
Fresh produce this week will be rhubarb, onions, radishes, lettuce, greens, garlic, broccoli and sprouts to my knowledge.
Also just wanted everyone to know the new sign has been installed on the end of the building facing the ball diamonds and aquatic center. It can be seen and read from Muskinghum Drive about a block away.
Our ball caps are in and available for purchase. Cost is $10.00 each. Wearing these caps is like being a walking billboard for the market. Be sure to purchase yours soon and wear it where ever you go. The bags are on the way.
Remember we are on summer hours now 8:00am to 1:00pm every Saturday.
The Wednesday Market starts  May 2nd at 3:00pm till 6:00pm and will run through the month of August.
     See you on Saturday.

Everyone have a Blessed Day
